In April 2011, a large tornado struck Tuscaloosa Alabama. At least 140 people lost their lives during this tornado. Tuscaloosa is home to the University of Alabama. Houndstooth Ribbons have come to symbolize the relief effort for Tuscaloosa. These cookies have gone with several teams from the gulf coast to Tuscaloosa.
A local elementary school was honored for having good health and fitness programs at the school. Special visitors were scheduled to visit the school and gift baskets were made for them. These guests included The Surgeon General, Morgan Freeman, and the trainer that trained Hillary Swank. These tennis shoe cookies symbolize itness and went in the gift baskets.
There was contest recently on the Sweet Serendipity Facebook page. The winner of the contest donated her cookies to a little girl that is in the hospital battling cancer. The contest winner just wanted to make this little girl and her mom smile. These cookies were delivered to the hospital the day before Mother's Day.
